A Day In The Life Of The Cubes

These are called ' The Cubes ' I really enjoy these rather expensive toys for some odd reason. The joy comes from placing them in various poses and predicaments and making up a caption or story.

My future ride.

1972 Chevy Impala. 400 small block. Re-chromed bumpers and grill. Runs and drives great!

So the ad says.

I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be a dud. I don't like them in the box and sure don't like them in my life. I'll know more when I get her. The car lot received the money today. Check should clear this week I'm guessing. I'll be calling the shipper tomorrow and starting that process. Then it's on it's way home!!!

Was a little worried because I called the shipper today to let them know that the bumpers would be lose and would need to be strapped down outside the car as they would not fit inside. I was then told they don't do that. It all has to be inside the vehicle. Thankfully in the end they ended up fitting inside. I'm thinking they had to remove the backseat top and slide them through the framework there. However it's done.

Now to save for the hand controls or left foot gas pedal. Might trying driving with my left foot for awhile and see how that goes. Seems like an accident waiting to happen!

The weekend.

Friday I got the two packages I've been expecting. One package was snails and the other was The Cubes.

The snails arrived safe and sound. Larger then expected. I unwrapped them from the wet tissue and placed them into a temp tank. Oddly enough when I went to check on them Saturday there was a small snail in there with them. I either didn't catch it Friday or they've had one since.

Earlier in the week I had called Tuesday Mornings and they had some special fx boxes. They make your Christmas lights dance to the beat of music. I hadn't actually asked them to but when I went there to get them I couldn't find any and found out they held them for me at the front desk. Bought two. Hooked them up on Saturday morning just for the fun of it and I think they're going to be pretty cool. I'm excited! Not sure just yet how I'm going to make it all work but there will be a soundtrack involved with the sharp sounds of thunder.

Saturday was spent outside trimming trees and working in the pond. Got a lot done still so much more to go.

Sunday was Grandma's birthday party. She's 86! I wonder if she has any idea how lucky she is to have lived as long as she has and for the most part been free of any major health issues. The party was fun. It was nice to see gram as it's been a long while since I've seen her. I saw her last before I went into the hospital to have my surgery.

I had called about this bouncy Zebra on Craig's list. Ended up going and getting it Sunday. It was in Park City . Took us about two hours. lol Had a really good time though with Leisa.

I've decided...

I'm going to spend the day tomorrow looking at Halloween stuff. I'm going to get inspired if it kills me. Something simple but that would go with Agnes. I have about a 5 1/2- 6 foot alligator out in the garage that I need to finish so maybe I'll work on that. I figure it will give Agnes something to throw the scraps from her cooking pot to. I don't know. Kind of up in the air on that one. Not sure what else is coming to mind though. I have an idea for a Medicine man or woman. We'll have to see though. I want it to be a realistic face and body shape. Kinda short and pudgy with long hair and leathery, aged skin. Beads and pouches on a suede belt. A hatchet tucked inside the belt too with some type of skin hanging off the belt. More brainstorming on this later. I got to get to bed.

Beautiful day.

It's raining and thundering here today. Not everyones typical " beautiful " day but it's my kind of day. I just hope it doesn't get humid out. Yuck!

Had a great weekend. Didn't get a lot done however and I fell on my stump on Friday. Sure hope I didn't screw something up. The Dr.'s office just called. I guess as long as I didn't bust anything open I should be fine. Sure zaps my confidence for going up and down stairs though.

On a happy note. I should be getting my IT guy in today from The Cubes figures. Sure hope I can get the rest of them before they vanish. Sucks I missed out on getting pat. Really wanted the break room set. I have a few funny ideas for some.

Had another blessed weekend sitting out by the pond. I had wanted a Koi pond for quite awhile but had no idea about the Dragonflies. I seem to be enjoying them as much as I am the koi and pond. I figured we'd get a few eventually but never anticipated the amount or variety that we're getting. It's even compelled me to get a book on insects so that I could identify them. The way they mate is beyond comprehension. Truely odd. I've been getting some really great pictures of them though. I'm still amazed at where they came from. How far they have to fly to get here every day and where they go at night.

I still don't seem to be in the Halloween mood. Perhaps because subconciously I know I still can't do anything but wheel myself around in the wheelchair and ask for this or that to the unlucky person that happens to be home to help. I'm excited about fall though. Hoping I'm doing well enough on my prosthetic leg to get around and go to a corn maze. I could do something small at the kitchen table with paper mache but still couldn't get anything out or put it away. So that's a bust. Still tempting however.

Halloween

Halloween- I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!! It's by far my favorite time if the year. The think I enjoy the most I think is walking in the corn mazes. I haven't been able to do that for two years now so I'm hoping this year will be the year I'm able to do it again.

Not being able to Geocache or do Stained Glass kind of pushed me in this direction as I don't like idle hands when they are mine. I decided that I was going to make some stuff after visiting my nephews house and seeing something he made. He had a really neat scene at his house last year. I stuck with something small that I could handle being a cripple.

Her name is Agnes. That's her in the pic on this blog. I started off with a styrofoam head like the one above Agnes. I only needed to use the head for a starting shape. I cut the face off of it and started clean. She's made out of paper mache. Her eyes were simple wooden balls painted white with a little red. An iris printed from paper and glued to each and then two part epoxy painted over both. Gives them a real good look. She stirs a big cauldron and you can see her in action here. Don't forget to check out the other videos of her .

Stained Glass

Stained Glass - I've dealt with depression on and off for most of my life. Pretty much been a slave to it. Never had a lot of control over it. Medicated it in various ways and never thought life would exist without it. I think to a point I still medicate it but I think it's also pretty well under control. I don't do depression meds. I medicate by keeping myself busy and with lots of different interest and positive thinking.

About 10 years ago we moved to a little town called Wellington. It's located in Kansas. The house had a Stained Glass window that I fell in love with. Used to sit and stare at it quite often. It was then that I began to take back control of my depression and life. With that much beauty coming in my window how could I be depressed ??? So from there came a new hobby. That little town was kinda magical in the way that small towns often are. Halloween was really cool. The streets were flooded with kids Trick or Treating. We only stayed there a year but that year was pretty special.

I've been making Stained Glass off and on for around 9 years. I really enjoy it and there's something about hanging a completed panel in the window that first time as the sun hits it that still gives me a rush.

I hope to get back into this soon. It's been around three years since I've made anything and I miss it. Not to mention I need to build my supplies back up.
